The Process of Discovery: The Mid-Atlantic Ridge in Splash Spring 2015
Did you know the longest mountain range in the world lies thousands of feet underwater, in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean? It's called the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, and is currently forming as lava erupts out of the rift where two tectonic plates are drifting apart. In this short lecture, we will learn how mankind's investigation of the ridge spurred discoveries about Earth's formation, magnetism, and how geologic evidence is used to reconstruct the story of our planet.
